It was recently announced the Canadian Premier League (CPL) club York United will be establishing and powering a new academy to develop players in the local region.
This looks to be another great step towards developing football culture in Canada, and given the recent success of the national team program, the support for the support continues to shine.
Trials for United Football Academy will take place at St Andrew’s College in Aurora, Ontario. One of the local townships in York Region.
York United have also stated that a full competitive program will be launched come 2023.
It seems that what differentiates United Football Academy from other soccer programs in the area will be that the youth teams will have some access to first team facilities.
On the United Football Academy website, it states that athletes will have access to: seven grass fields, a synthetic turf field, two gymnasiums, two multipurpose courts, fitness center, weight training room, outdoor track, wooded running trails, athletic therapy clinic, locker rooms, and video classrooms.
