The Winnipeg Jets have gotten their business done ahead of the March 3rd NHL Trade Deadline and have acquired Swiss forward Nino Neiderreiter from the Nashville Predators, in exchange for a 2024 Second round pick.

The 30 year old winger had 18 goals and 28 points with the Preds this year after signing a 2 year, $8 million deal ($4 million AAV) with Nashville in the offseason.
Neiderreiter is a dynamic winger who can play in the Jets top-six, likely dropping former Capitan Blake Wheeler lower in the lineup. At 6’2, Neiderreiter’s game lends to a power forward style of play.
Excellent forechecking ability and a fantastic two-way style of play and has the ability to make space for himself in front of the net, Neiderreiter has all the tools to become a stand-out in Head Coach Rick Bowness’ system.
In an interview early this season with Sports Illustrated’s Inside the Preds blog, Neiderreiter had this to say about his style of play; “I think I am just probably super tenacious around the net and on the forecheck. I try to go where people don’t like you to go there – basically in front of the net – and I think that is what my strength is”.
Adding in Neiderreiter’s contract, the Jets still have a little over $4 million to play with with less than a week to go before the deadline, and one could wonder if General Manager Kevin Cheveldayoff is planning to do any more shopping before the window closes.
In 798 career NHL games, Neiderreiter has 199 goals and 396 points.
