Now 20 years old, Ismael Kone has now signed for English club Sheffield United for a fee roughly worth about £5m (including bonuses).
Sheffield United competes in the EFL Championship, which is one level under the top flight English Premier League. However the Championship is known to be one of the strongest second divisions in the world.
The Canadian international previously played at CF Montreal and previously had trials in the Belgian league. However, returned back to Canada due to COVID-19.
During his time in the MLS, Koné has scored twice, assisted three times, and appeared in twenty-one games. These statistics are quite impressive for his age.
The central midfielder is also able to play attacking midfield and is part of a new young group of Canadian footballers looking to develop in England and compete at the highest level.
Canadian soccer is evidently growing and the quality of the players competing in Europe is increasing at a drastic rate!
