Denis Zakaria Moves from Juventus to Chelsea on a Loan Deal

Signing for Juventus in the last transfer window from Gladbach, midfielder Denis Zakaria is moving from Turin to London as he signs for Chelsea on loan.

The Swiss midfielder is likely moving due to the return of Paul Pogba to Juventus, which would add more competition for a starting positon.

In Serie A, Zakaria only had eleven appearances (from January till now split across the two seasons). However, the midfielder was star while competiting for Gladbach in Germany.

Zakaria is also able to play at center back if necessary, however due to Tuchel’s defensive depth, it will likely be that Zakaria will strictly be a midfielder.

The likely reason for this signing for the London Blues is to add a little more emphasis on athleticism and size, given Zakaria’s 6’2 height.

The Swiss signing with Chelsea also means that they have another strong defensive midfielder if Chelsea’s main man N’golo Kante gets hurt again.

Given the fact that this is a loan signing, Zakaria moving to Chelsea is a low risk move for all parties. If Zakaria does not fit well in Tuchel’s side, then a return to Juventus would be a simple move.

However, if the move does work, the price to pay for the midfielder is already in the deal being at £30m and no obligation to buy at the end of the loan.
