de Ligt left his boyhood club Ajax in 2019 after their memorable miracle run in the Champions League in which they reached the semi-finals losing to finalists Tottenham Hotspurs in heartbreaking fashion.
Only 22 years of age, de Ligt is still regarded as one of the best prospects in world football and has exemplified world class levels of leadership and experience. de Ligt is also carries exceptional size, benefitting the defender as he is able to use his athleticism and body to dominate.
de Ligt was able to win the Serie A in his first season with Juventus (19/20), but is also looking to add more silverware to his trophy case with Bayern Munich.
de Ligt leaves a Juventus that has been in decline since winning the season he arrived. However, the Italian giants have shown that they are looking to rebuild and restructure given the transfers they have made this season.
The Dutchman will be joining Julian Nagelsmann’s sound Bayern Munich team that has made some of the best signings this off season, such as Sadio Mane, Ryan Gravenberch, and Noussair Mazraoui.

de Ligt has also played with Gravenberch and Mazraoui during their spell at Ajax. So this transfer window sees the reunion of the former Ajax men that once played under Manchester United’s new manager Erik ten Hag.
