The former AC Milan defender leaves after spending five years with the club he just won the Scudetto with to join Lazio.
The Biancocelesti have been waiting for Romagnoli’s contract to expire this past season to sign him on a free transfer. Now that the transfer window has finally opened, it looks like a deal has been done to sign the defender.
Romagnoli will be signing till the year 2027 and will earn roughly β¬3,5M/year in Lazio.
The Italian defender found himself outside of AC Milan’s starting eleven due to the success of Kalulu, and Tomori joining the team. By joining Lazio, Romagnoli has the opportunity to find his way into a less competitive team.
The transfer looks to be a move that works for all three parties, as AC Milan part ways with their defender, while Lazio can add another central defender to their team.
Now 27 years old, Romagnoli has a plethera of experience, to bring to the Roman club.
Though this move means that Romagnoli will be missing out on the Champions League this season, he still gets to compete in European competition through Lazio’s fifth place finish last season which grants them entry into the Europa League.
